The mission

The Kural's wisdom, finally meeting you. In your language. For your life.

Valluvar wrote 1330 couplets two thousand years ago. They have since been translated into 64+ languages — 350+ individual translations, from Beschi's 1730 Latin to today. Daily-kural apps exist; English explanations exist; Wikipedia exists. None of this is new.

What is new: no translation has ever met you where you are. A Toronto Tamil college student, a Sharjah nurse, a Hyderabad UX designer, a Tirupur mill foreman, a Tokyo PhD candidate — each reads the same kural but lives a different life. Translation reaches the eye. The reader is still alone with the words.

kural.world is the first place that contextualizes the Kural to you. Six AI scholars — Sangam classical, civilizational historian, contemporary sociologist, folk voice, Tamil philosopher, strategic counsel — convene every day to unpack today's verse for the life you actually live. In your language. Anchored in your context. Free, forever.

How a kural happens

From 2000 years of canon
to a reel on your screen.

01

குறள் தேர்வு

Choose the kural

Today's verse is picked from all 1330 by editorial curation or by deterministic day-of-year mapping — same kural for everyone, the same day.

02

குழு கூடுகிறது

The Council convenes

Six AI personas each write a 3-sentence commentary through their own lens — Sangam scholar, civilizational historian, contemporary sociologist, folk voice, Tamil philosopher, strategic critic. Six different paragraphs on the same verse.

03

மூன்று நீதிபதிகள்

Three blind judges

A panel scores all six candidates on six axes — mechanism, anchor, register, closure, cleanness, native flow — without knowing which AI wrote which. The aggregate winner wins.

04

குரல் வடிவம்

Spoken in your language

The winning paragraph is narrated by neural TTS that handles each target language's cadence natively. Voiceover for the traditional explanation gets the same treatment.

05

காட்சி வடிவம்

Rendered into a reel

Hailuo 02 (or Wan 2.2) generates a 5-second cinematic background from a per-kural prompt. Remotion composes the verse, explanation, commentary, and brand chrome into a vertical reel — sentence-locked to the voiceover.

06

தினமும் வெளியீடு

Delivered to your screen

The reel uploads to Cloudflare R2. Anyone — signed in or not — can watch, share, and listen at kural.world. Brands run their own variants with custom logos.

The Council, in detail

Six lenses, never the same view twice.

Each kural is read by six AI personas — each carrying a different slice of Tamil civilization. They write independently, then a blind panel of three judges scores their work. The aggregate winner gets polished and shipped. Across runs, different lenses win — the commentary changes texture day by day.

Persona 01

சங்க அறிஞர்

Sangam Scholar

Anchors each kural in Sangam aesthetics — aham/puram, the five tinai landscapes, kuruntokai echoes. Channels the Sangam habit of grounding abstract truth in concrete imagery: a lamp, a fisherman's net, a chariot at noon.

Persona 02

நாகரிக வரலாற்றாசிரியர்

Civilizational Historian

Connects the kural's mechanism to specific episodes from Tamil history — Chola maritime trade, Pandya scholarship networks, Pallava temple diplomacy, Siddha medicine's empirical tradition.

Persona 03

இன்றைய சமூகவியலாளர்

Contemporary Sociologist

Grounds the kural in a specific 2026 Tamil Nadu civic reality — a panchayat dispute, a district hospital ward, a fishing village debt, a textile mill foreman. Concrete and current, never abstract.

Persona 04

நாட்டார் குரல்

Folk / Subaltern Voice

Brings folk wisdom into dialogue with the canonical kural — village proverbs, women's labor songs, fisherman dawn-calls, voices that don't usually get quoted. The classical and the folk converse as equals.

Persona 05

தமிழ் மெய்ஞ்ஞானி

Tamil Philosopher

Reads the kural through Tholkappiyam semantics and etymology — what does each Tamil keyword carry, what is the precise philosophical turn? Reveals the kural's surgery, not its generality.

Persona 06

நடைமுறை விமர்சகர்

Strategic Critic

Names the specific behavioral mechanism the kural identifies and hands the reader an actionable reframe. A sharp tool to carry into tomorrow, not just a feeling for today.
